Alison was born and raised in the high country of the Angeles National Forest, to a family that owned and operated 8 campgrounds and a small ski resort, Kratka Ridge. She graduated with a BA in Global Studies and Spanish Literature from UCSB in 2004, including a year at the Universidad de Carlos III in Madrid, Spain. Over the next decade-plus of her life Alison dedicated herself to the food and farming industry, working on farms, in restaurants and managing farmers’ markets. This work led her to start and become the Executive Director of a small nonprofit focused on food and farm education called SOL Food.  Since then, she has co-founded 1 other nonprofit and 3 other mission driven LLCs, as well as building up her small business consultancy practice under the name SOL Food.

She is currently the Executive Director of Rogue Valley Food Systems Network and Co-Founder of Keystone Elements LLC with her husband. She is a community organizer at heart and believes we already have all the solutions to the big issues of our time—it is just a matter of building the bridges. Alison is committed to creating, supporting, and growing businesses and community endeavors whose mission is towards creating a more sensible, regenerative, and just presence on the planet. Alison believes that water is life, water is food, and humans have been notoriously shortsighted when it comes to water management systems—she is excited to see beaver return to that management position and bring back water abundance, as they have for millennia.
